I’m a sucker for deer and pheasant though, and I love fox. It’s delicious – like a very lean, sweet tasting pork. Similar to rat actually.
I wouldn't have guessed that fox resembled the pork in flavor. The entire premise for what animals are and are not acceptable to eat is bizarre. If you are a species, the last thing you want is to be on the widely acceptable list. Poor, poor chickens.
I feel like there would be a correlation between the amount of hunters in an area and the social acceptance of eating roadkill. There are a decent amount of hunters around my neck of the woods, though they aren't a predominant sect. I remember there was a big hullabaloo a couple years ago because a Chinese restaurant was serving roadkill (deer, I think) on their menu. I guess the owners were hunters? Either way I feel like eating roadkill wouldn't usually fly in my area, nor would I ever do so myself.
