About one year ago, insomniasexx crashed one of our Hubski Google hangouts. Ever since then, thenewgreen has made our hangouts private. :) However, ever since that hangout, we have often commented on how insomniasexx would make a great addition to the Hubski team.
Now she is!
Last week, we actually invited insom to a hangout, and she agreed to join us.
insomniasexx has long been a valuable and active member of the community, and it was clear from the beginning that she understands and values our goals. She has a lot of good ideas, and even more energy. We are very excited to have her aboard.
Welcome insom!
In addition, we have a feature update. forwardslash has created Hubski Discover, an extension for Chrome.
You can also find a link to it on the tools page.
When you are browsing, Hubski Discover will tell you when the page you are on has been submitted to Hubski, and how many comments are in that discussion. When that page hasn't been submitted to Hubski, clicking the Hubski Discover icon will help you submit it.
It's very nice.
As always, feedback is much appreciated.
Hey! I'm super excited to be joining the team! I really want to thank mk & thenewgreen & b_b & forwardslash for all their hard work and letting me join something so awesome. When I told my dad about this, he asked me what I want to accomplish. Actually, he first asked if there was money to be made. My answer didn't really satisfy him but it's the truth. I'm not here for the money...even if there was any. I have a job, just like the rest of the Hubski team, that pays my bills and then some. But Hubski gives me something that my job rarely does: Hubski is something I get excited about and passionate about and dedicated to and enjoy. I don't really have any end goal or single accomplishment that I am looking to take away from Hubski. I don't think any project like hubski will ever be "done" or "complete." It's an ongoing project that challenges us, teaches us, and gives us joy and satisfaction. Being part of the Hubski team is going to be a journey...an adventure. One thing I do want is to share Hubski with people. I want people to find the same enjoyment and knowledge I do. I want the community to grow so that there are more viewpoints and more posts and more discussions contributing to a thoughtful and intelligent community. I also want the community to continue to be as amazing as it is. We have a solid foundation of users who are smart and witty and creative and talkative. I continue to be surprised by ceaselessly high quality links, original content and comments that get posted here. So, as we get more and more users, I want the community to expand but not deteriorate. Also, I'm going to invade Detroit soon so if any of you are in the general area, you have to come say hi! and do shots! Also, also! I know I'm special and all that but this post wasn't supposed to be about me. It was supposed to be about fowardslash's new AMAZING chrome extension. So don't forget to download it. It really works well and is way faster than I was expecting. <3 insom
Congrats insom. I remember that time you 'crashed' the Google hangout. It was brave and adorable. Hubski is damn lucky to have you.
No joke, I was just thinking about you. You're profile page is open in another tab because I was wondering why I hadn't seen your name lately. So, you have thoroughly freaked me out. :P Are you just lurking more lately and I'm special enough for a comment or what? Also, THANKS! I'm so excited
I AM BEING THOUGHT OF AWESOME. I lurk more, Hubski doesn't have a massive community focused on the aspects of video games, the development of them and what not so I attend to just look around at what everyone else is doing. Still love the fact that everyone has those projects they're working, makes me feel welcome in a community of motivated and ambitious people. I guess I should post more :(
You should post more! Post more about video games. There are probably other users with those interests. Or invite people to join Hubski that have those interests. That's how we grow and make it a place with a wide diversity of interests.
So glad to have you on board insom. I know you get what it is we are trying to do here and why it's valuable. Plus, you've been to two hubski gatherings now and at the last one managed to out drink b_b, which is no small feat. I'm excited for all of the new ideas we have in the pipeline! It's going to be a great second half of the year for the site! Can't wait to hang with you at the Detroit Hubski gathering Saturday, Sept 17th in Detroit. I'm sure ecib, Mindwolf, bgood79, lil, theadvancedapes and all the other Michiganders/Ontarians will be there :)
Looking forward to seeing the excuses you come up with after the Detroit round. :D
,and the sun was in his eyes.... Game on, I'm excited for the Detroit gathering. It's going to be a blast!
