Mayba tabata or hiit can help you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training you won't get around sport to be fit, but there are many different ways of archiving fitness.
Recognizing mortality isn't singular to the human species though.
There is an important difference in taking debt for consumption, or for an investment into your future. Kids, dogs, and a house are definitively an investment into the future - having some debt because of that isn't worrisome. Just make sure you prioritize paying it off correctly.
Currently in practise: Get up, go shower, get dressed, leave for work. Ideally I want to fit in 10 minutes of stretching, or some rounds of tabata. But I just c an't manage that for some reason.
Oh yes, you can fix almost anything on a bike yourself if you spend some time with it. I grew up with bikes, so I'm always baffled when people fail to do the simplest things like replace or fix flat tires or worn out brakes.
That sounds awesome!
Wow, not bad! I saw one of those here recently and looked them up...but I figured that they are really too expensive to just get to try out. How do you feel about carrying it around? It's not very lightweight, right?
You built your own bike? What made you decide for building over just buying?
Are we truly very different from all the other animals? We are just animals, and a lot of other animals share the same features we have: ability to dream, desire, compassion, ability to suffer, regret and hope, et.c We have accomplished more as an aggregate species so far, but I am not sure if that makes us more specials. Is one nation more special than another one just because it is more "advanced"? Probably not.
Came here to suggest MOOCs. It's also true that solving your own tasks is beneficial, but sometimes it's hard to find those in your daily life.
A nice "cheat": You need to find your own motivation, the reason why you are pulling through shouldn't be the drill sergeant yelling at you, but your passion automagically pushing you onward. Of course not everyone can make a career out of their field(s) of passion - but if you want to archive high self-discipline, that's probably an easy way out. Moreover, surround yourself with like-minded people - they won't actively motivate you, but you will get dragged along to a certain degree. Best of luck!
I want to have tried my best. I don't want fall into a comfortable routine and just exist.
Let me chime in, but take what I say with a grain of salt - I have my own issues, as I have a bit of Aspergers. - ignore age, you fit in where you fit in;
- meetups is a good starting place - think of where you might find people you will get along, and go there. If you like meaningful discussions, maybe join a debating club, or try to set up one yourself
- it's unfortunate, but the best place to find people with your interests is to just create that space yourself.
- lasting connections are centred around communication. Don't be bothered if you are the one reaching out for a long time, that's how things sometimes are.
- make sure you network a lot. Get some business cards, hand them out at professional events, add people on Linkedin and other social media platforms. If you enjoy work, make that a comfortable and social space for yourself.
- friendship growing is difficult. Besides everything else, it needs time, often years. Keep casually reaching out to the acquaintances you think you would like to be friends with. Overall, it's not time to worry too much. People move around a lot and you have probably another decade to get grad school/phd, first jobs and whatever figured out until you settle in a place more permanently.
