Exactly what it needed! I do have one (nitpicky) suggestion, average comment score isn't really intuitive as a number, it isn't obvious what it means. I assume its the average of integers corresponding to the "ticks" you get from other people, but since you never represent this as a number maybe it would be more fitting to use a different display mechanism?

As long as there are people who care about sharing quality content on hubski, I think hubski should be able to avoid the issues that reddit faces. To me, reddit's problem is that it is now dominated by people who don't care about sharing quality, they only care about getting attention. Unfortunately, these two things don't coincide. I think if the attention-wh... er... cravers were to gravitate to hubski, the same tactics would still succeed, since the people who are amused by DAE, recycled memes and boring family/friend pictures would presumably migrate too. However, as mentioned by the other commenters, this shouldn't prevent people who aren't interested in this reddit-style content from continuing to share and enjoy quality content. The only potential issue is the streams of discovery becoming inundated with "bad" sharers to the point where quality sharers are impossible/difficult to find.

So to address MY problems with reddit, I think the most important focus should be insuring that the discovery tools are robust and effective, and do not cause less popular sharers to be drowned out.

Can we say that art has a quality gradient, that is, some art can be qualitatively "better" than other art? I realize art is subjective, but I still feel as though something can meet this definition of art but not necessarily do a good job of it. If that's true, I think memes are at most, low quality art. Memes are intended to invoke a feeling, but they do so with very little subtlety or creativity. They also lack depth or any profundity, in general.
