Tried it, got Imagine Dragons, Snow Patrol, and Nickleback.
On the contrary, I'm making everything else look good.
I play ukulele fairly well. I wouldn't consider myself "professional" by any means. Self taught, play almost every day.
Favorite: No Country for Old Men. It's my favorite because for me, it's so hard to find things wrong with it, and I love nearly every inch of the movie. Every time I watch it, I get sucked in, and every performance is perfect, exactly what it needs to be. An adaptation of one of my favorite books by my favorite author by my favorite directors (the Coens). The rest of my top 10(ish) moves around a lot, but this one has been the same since I saw it in 09.
In No Order:
American Beauty
The Shining -- If I have to pick one Kubrick
The Thing
The Evil Dead
Fargo
The Social Network Sorry it's hard to choose.
That website gives me so much pain because I hate picking some movies over others and then I end up with hundreds of movies all out of place.
I thought it was going to be the first part of Tommy Wiseau's masterwork The Room.
I'm in the "gift" camp--you? Pizza can't be cute. Maybe like, a smiley face pizza.
Hey, two Utahns. Pretty good representation.
I feel bad that I find myself agreeing with Smugopedia's entry on King Lear. However, I was upset by Stanley Kubrick's, so balance is restored.
Is this a controversial opinion? I know a lot of people that love nuts in their brownies, but people generally understand when I tell them I don't like it--ruins the smushy consistency of the brownie.
2013 is looking surprisingly solid. I don't think I've been looking forward to so many movies in one year. The two biggest omissions in my opinion were Only God Forgives (Nicolas Winding Refn, starring Ryan Gosling) and The Place Between the Pines (Derek Cianfance, also starring Gosling, and Bradley Cooper), both of which I am very excited for. I didn't know the Oldboy remake was coming out this year...I'm tentatively interested. Lots of big names in a very alienating film. This is the End has some pretty funny meta humor going for it.
I like the trailer, love the last minute or so--that piano is excellent. I'm really looking forward to this movie. Ryan Gosling's one of my favorites, Bradley Cooper is great and the director Derek Cianfrance did well with Blue Valentine. Currently it's at 100% on rottentomatoes.com with eight reviews: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_place_beyond_the_pines_2... This and Only God Forgives are probably my top two anticipated movies of the next year.
I absolutely love Sleigh Bells for this purpose. Another one that gets me pretty pumped is Riot Rhythm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6OhdzB843w
As far as blaze of glory/being remembered goes, I feel like the best option is jumping on top of a grenade to save your comrades.
An excellent documentary as well. Informative, and interesting. Seeing Kurzweil talk about reviving his dead father through a computer was one of the oddest, saddest things I've seen in film. He's a man who literally believes he can bring his father back from the dead--amazing. Another part of the film I found extremely interesting was where one of the interviewees talk about how doomsday, religious end of days, or singularity predictors all seem to place their predictions within their lifetime--an example I've heard a lot about is Mormon prophert Joseph Smith predicting the second coming of Jesus in the mid 1800s (during which Smith would have been alive had he not been killed). It creates an interesting emotional level to Kurzweil's science--is he drawing conclusions from data that doesn't point to what he says it does, holding out for his father's reincarnation?
This website...I had my doubts originally about the tags system, but it's looking better and better the more I browse around.
I wish I could have half of the facebook you have. Can you explain further how Reddit "refines" your writing? What kind of writing do you do?
I agree. The only time I can even consider the thought of dying is if everyone I know and love dies as well--I wouldn't have much left to live for, and I may even feel a sense of completion and willingness to die. However, at any given moment I can think of a thousand reasons to keep living, so that may never happen.
