Thanks for the link. It does indeed seem to be a good first choice given the number of users. Sorry it took 20 days to reply!
Somehow I got a second tag on this post, and I must assume it's from you, so I thank you. This event may just be idiocy but it's caused a whole lot of meta subs to go private and get a bunch of users angry.
I think reddit needs competition and I'm glad to see it here. That said, here's a random related idea that I dwell on: One way reddit could be improved vastly (and has been considered before, even by the admins) is a "recommender" system (like netflix), which basically analyzes your votes and others votes, feeds this into a neural net or something, and customizes what you see. Clearly this is not trivial. The benefit is all you have to do is vote on things, and the more you vote, the better your results. Maybe hubski can accomplish the same thing more simply - like when multiple people you follow share the same thing, it gets ranked higher.. or when followers of followed people all share the same thing.
Rondotted.
This.
To the front page!
I'm following you literally because of this comment. People are so serious here. I'm just here for the dots.
I'm wondering about this "interest clogging" too, like if people start spamming a single interest. It seems like it won't affect the feed (which I guess is solely determined by shares of followed people), but it could be a problem if you search for #interest.
But what will braveryjerk do with out all that fancy CSS?
Ah cool, this might be worth having in the FAQ. Currently there's no mention of "interested in" there.
Upspoke (is that the right word?). I wouldn't have registered if there didn't seem to be some novel features here. But I also think it will take a lot more users to see if it's more resilient than reddit, like when spammers decide to pay attention.
