I just cannot stand another minute of that place.
Would you like to have consensual sexual relations with me after forming a meaningful relationship?
So, is there an atheism yet? Because if there isn't, I am going to make it and prevent it from turning into a shithole
just checked. There already is people talking about it and it is already super brave.
well, I guess it can't be ratheists anymore, huh?

I could ask over on SRS IRC if anyone will be interested, but hubski isn't big enough to suffer the cultural malaise that Reddit does, I think. SRS is able to thrive because there's a lot of material to work with, both because there's a lot of posts, and a lot of those posts are terrible due to Reddit culture. Of course, I literally just joined to post this, so disregard if I'm wrong. EDIT: Just read a few posts on Hubski. Maybe an SHS could be possible :V
I wish I had more than but one weird little circle-dot thing to give you, le good sir.
I concur with this statement. That place completely revolutionized my perception of life.
It should be noted that I've upvoted every single person who's disagreed with me here, as far as I know. That said. In 7th grade, I took an SAT test without preparing for it at all, it was spur-of-the-moment, I knew about it about an hour ahead of time and didn't do any research or anything. I scored higher on it than the average person using it to apply for college in my area. An IQ test has shown me to be in the 99.9th percentile for IQ. This is the highest result the test I was given reaches; anything further and they'd consider it to be within the margin of error for that test. My mother's boyfriend of 8 years is an aerospace engineer who graduated Virginia Tech. At the age of 15, I understand physics better than him, and I owe very little of it to him, as he would rarely give me a decent explanation of anything, just tell me that my ideas were wrong and become aggravated with me for not quite understanding thermodynamics. He's not particularly successful as an engineer, but I've met lots of other engineers who aren't as good as me at physics, so I'm guessing that's not just a result of him being bad at it. I'm also pretty good at engineering. I don't have a degree, and other than physics I don't have a better understanding of any aspect of engineering than any actual engineer, but I have lots of ingenuity for inventing new things. For example, I independently invented regenerative brakes before finding out what they were, and I was only seven or eight years old when I started inventing wireless electricity solutions (my first idea being to use a powerful infrared laser to transmit energy; admittedly not the best plan). I have independently thought of basically every branch of philosophy I've come across. Every question of existentialism which I've seen discussed in SMBC or xkcd or Reddit or anywhere else, the thoughts haven't been new to me. Philosophy has pretty much gotten trivial for me; I've considered taking a philosophy course just to see how easy it is. Psychology, I actually understand better than people with degrees. Unlike engineering, there's no aspect of psychology which I don't have a very good understanding of. I can debunk many of even Sigmund Freud's theories. I'm a good enough writer that I'm writing a book and so far everybody who's read any of it has said it was really good and plausible to expect to have published. And that's not just, like, me and family members, that counts strangers on the Internet. I've heard zero negative appraisal of it so far; people have critiqued it, but not insulted it. I don't know if that will suffice as evidence that I'm intelligent. I'm done with it, though, because I'd rather defend my maturity, since it's what you've spent the most time attacking. The following are some examples of my morals and ethical code. I believe firmly that everybody deserves a future. If we were to capture Hitler at the end of WWII, I would be against executing him. In fact, if we had any way of rehabilitating him and knowing that he wasn't just faking it, I'd even support the concept of letting him go free. This is essentially because I think that whoever you are in the present is a separate entity from who you were in the past and who you are in the future, and while your present self should take responsibility for your past self's actions, it shouldn't be punished for them simply for the sake of punishment, especially if the present self regrets the actions of the past self and feels genuine guilt about them. I don't believe in judgement of people based on their personal choices as long as those personal choices aren't harming others. I don't have any issue with any type of sexuality whatsoever (short of physically acting out necrophilia, pedophilia, or other acts which have a harmful affect on others - but I don't care what a person's fantasies consist of, as long as they recognize the difference between reality and fiction and can separate them). I don't have any issue with anybody over what type of music they listen to, or clothes they wear, etc. I know that's not really an impressive moral, but it's unfortunately rare; a great many people, especially those my age, are judgmental about these things. I love everyone, even people I hate. I wish my worst enemies good fortune and happiness. Rick Perry is a vile, piece of shit human being, deserving of zero respect, but I wish for him to change for the better and live the best life possible. I wish this for everyone. I'm pretty much a pacifist. I've taken a broken nose without fighting back or seeking retribution, because the guy stopped punching after that. The only time I'll fight back is if 1) the person attacking me shows no signs of stopping and 2) if I don't attack, I'll come out worse than the other person will if I do. In other words, if fighting someone is going to end up being more harmful to them than just letting them go will be to me, I don't fight back. I've therefore never had a reason to fight back against anyone in anything serious, because my ability to take pain has so far made it so that I'm never in a situation where I'll be worse off after a fight. If I'm not going to get any hospitalizing injuries, I really don't care. The only exception is if someone is going after my life. Even then, I'll do the minimum amount of harm to them that I possibly can in protecting myself. If someone points a gun at me and I can get out of it without harming them, I'd prefer to do that over killing them. I consider myself a feminist. I don't believe in enforced or uniform gender roles; they may happen naturally, but they should never be coerced into happening unnaturally. As in, the societal pressure for gender roles should really go, even if it'll turn out that the majority of relationships continue operating the same way of their own accord. I treat women with the same outlook I treat men, and never participate in the old Reddit "women are crazy" circlejerk, because there are multiple women out there and each have different personalities just like there are multiple men out there and each with different personalities. I don't think you do much of anything except scare off the awesome women out there by going on and on about the ones who aren't awesome. That doesn't mean I look for places to victimize women, I just don't believe it's fair to make generalizations such as the one about women acting like everything's OK when it's really not (and that's a particularly harsh example, because all humans do that). I'm kind of tired of citing these examples and I'm guessing you're getting tired of reading them, if you've even made it this far. In closing, the people who know me in real life all respect me, as do a great many people in the Reddit brony community, where I spend most of my time and where I'm pretty known for being helpful around the community. A lot of people in my segment of the community are depressed or going through hard times, and I spend a lot of time giving advice and support to people there. Yesterday someone quoted a case of me doing this in a post asking everyone what their favorite motivational/inspirational quote was, and that comment was second to the top, so I guess other people agreed (though, granted, it was a pretty low-traffic post, only about a dozen competing comments). And, uh, I'm a pretty good moderator. All that, and I think your behavior in this thread was totally assholish. So what do you think, now that you at least slightly know me?
It should be noted that I've put that little circle next to the bigger circle every single person who's disagreed with me here, as far as I know. That said. lol LL he's the brave one from SRDB modmail. The one who tried to outcopypasta us.
I came here because of the SRSmeta post that was put up a little while ago advertising this place as a decent alternative...but honestly? If reddit power users and defaut mods are here in force, this place is already on its way down the shitter. I came to find a way to get away from reddit and redditors. Didn't really expect to show up only to find the same exact people who help to make reddit so hostile and disgusting...
Boom! Burn Centers, etc... DAE come to hubski and instantly lower property values with garbage comments?
So we're making bots now? Is AlyoshaV here yet? We need a new WeedLord_BonerHitler
And #HubskiDramaDrama. And #TrueHubskiDrama. Also, #CircleHubskiDrama and #RepublicOfHubskiDrama. And, of course, #HBDBroke, #HBDBrokeGW, #HBDBrokeGWMeta, #HBDBrokeOpenModmail, #HBDBr0ke and, obviously, #PostHBDBroke I don't know why, but I feel like it's gonna get out of hand rather quickly.
No, because kjoneslol has been in the position to take over for years and Syncretic wouldn't fuck over his friend for some shitty reddit gag.
That would have pretty much been amazing. Missed opportunities..
Hey :) So is this the new thing we're doing now? I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Don't worry, I'm here too. I know that's the deciding factor ;)
So many Redditors.... are we like the cancer that is killing hubski now?
Ah, looks like the dregs of Reddit crawled right into this thread :p
Pff, it's Australia: babies learn how to fight dingos when they're 5 months-old. Otherwise they're thrown in the ThunderDome.
Who should I talk to about letting people know how admins protect child porn on Reddit?
LOL they do - and I have proof! I also have proof that I never accepted payments but I consider the CP a more important issue at this point.
That doesnt say anything about child porn there. And to be quite honest your mod team was caught red handed and you were hostile to the admins. I think you honestly probably didnt have anything to do with it but you did seem to piss them off quite a bit.
Well obviously you're going to think whatever you're going to think - I'm the only one who's actually providing transcripts of these conversations and proof that I actually reported the spammer who they're accusing me of taking payments from. They're simply making false accusations and saying "We're admin. Believe what we say. They were bad."
Is that what you said? I must have misread that. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT PISSES ME OFF ABOUT THIS! They have no evidence, they even said they don't believe I acted inappropriately and they DEFINITELY can't produce any mod logs that say I did any of these things.... because I never did them.
Look - I asked those two guys "man to man" if they ever actually accepted payments. They told me no. I have no reason to not believe what they're telling me and again, I could never find anything in the mod logs that supported what they were saying. I went back through 2 months of mod log info and never even found one link that SpackSack supposedly approved and only 3 mod actions TOTAL. The whole thing is just bullshit. The bigger the lie, the more people believe - and there's more than enough evidence to say that admins consistently lie about why prominent users have been banned.
My thing is ive made more trouble for the reddit admins than anyone on the site period and they have yet to shadowban me, in fact i think i have some kind of record for getting other people banned. You know why? I follow the rules. To the letter. Yes im a colossal pain in the ass for certain groups of people, but I do it within reddits rules. Oh and I always watch my mod teams like a hawk. A mix of e-lawyer and paranoia keeps you from getting banned.
Except for the fact that users can be banned for "causing too much drama" according to dacvak and I'd say you've raised enough drama to warrant a ban.
Didn't the admins give a vague statement about rule-breaking in that case too? Something about them having "investigated" the account and found reasons for a ban? The drama posts seemed to have set that investigation off, though.
They also accused him of posting pictures of underage girls which is absolute bullshit. Admins simply make up any lie that suits their needs.
Yeah, I don't know. Personally I don't like PIMA but that's just me. I'm listening to the DailyDot conversation on Liveleak right now and if you want my advice, you should keep pushing on the fact that you've prevented CP from being posted.
The fact is the PIMA and violenta both fought battles that I didn't agree with that resulted in their eventual departure from Reddit. This does not negate the fact that they were both excellent moderators who did a lot for Reddit.
I agree. My dislike for them is only personal. When was the DailyDot conversation recorded? That user you said you guys reported multiple times seems to have been banned.
This afternoon. The removal of /u/MrSnakeX must have been recent because when I checked the other day the account was still up. The thing is, the links he posted are still active if you search his name which means all of his posts are still active: http://www.reddit.com/r/all/search?q=mrsnakex
According to the guy you were talking to the account was up during your conversation. I guess the admins are listening to it as well?
Lol no of course not. He just searched the name in the search bar which is what that URL I sent you was.
I think that link got spam filtered. It has no activity.
Yeah the InternetAMA mods said they would approve it but I guess that didn't happen.
I'll see if I can contact loves_being_that_guy on facebook. One of the braveryjerk crew.
Looks like it's up now. They'll still have to manually approve my comments though.
They banned you, fucked you over extra by deleting all your history, and shadowbanned your new account too, and made 2 different (most likely false) accusations without proof. Do you yet feel responsible for a lot of your subreddits? Anyway, ontopic; I think your best shot might be SRS.
>Do you yet feel responsible for a lot of your subreddits? Only because I was responsible for most of that success. I worked really hard to make my subreddits as popular as they were and it sucks to lose all that effort however I'm more interested in letting the public know about all the shitty things admin do behind the scenes that you can only learn after becoming a moderator.
That doesn't really sound like Syncretic's style
Woah, I'm surprised to hear that from you of all people. Any particular reason(s)?
The admins want reddit to be hugely successful at the expense of everyone who made it that way. Shadowbanning people is a bullshit tool that they say is used to combat spam, and yes, it is most often used the way it was intended. Sometimes, though, it's used to silence dissent or cover up their mistakes. As a moderator, you have two choices... you can either toe the line (and those that do sometimes end up on the payroll like qgyh2 and dacvak) or you're disposable. If you're going to ban someone from your site, just do it. Don't make up some bullshit reason like vote cheating because he upvoted something with his alt a couple of times. I'd be surprised if half the fucking active submitters haven't done that. I've done that. It really sucks when you post something and 10 seconds later it has a downvote, so you delete it, post it again later, and 10 seconds later it has a downvote again, in a subreddit with 2,000 users. Not to mention, a subreddit with 1 upvote and 1 downvote is not visible on the subreddit page. How much fucking bullshit is that? One person can effectively censor you in a small subreddit until someone bothers to check the new queue. So, someone is obviously watching your account to downvote your new submissions, so you log in with an alt, give it an upvote to offset the stalker, and lo and behold, it's on the subreddit page again and has normal activity from then on. That isn't vote cheating, it's offsetting their shitty algorithm. The downvote is just another way to harass someone. It was originally called a "downmod," and was used to remove off-topic content and spam from the front page. Then subreddits came around, and the downmod was used to do the same thing until subreddit moderators could show up and remove it entirely. Mods didn't need to remove hardly anything or have strict rules because the userbase wasn't comprised of 12 year olds crossposting from /b/. Now the moderators are either completely inactive or are busy fighting off the zombie horde, and the admins are laughing all the way to the bank.
I mod you in my default and you betray me for hubski? You and me, we're done professionally.
I don't really know a lot about you, but your name seems to ring a bell for being controversial. However, once you become popular enough/visible enough, banning you gets really hard. Every time they let something slide, that precedent moves the line just a bit further back. So if you have become sufficiently visible and known for "causing drama", it actually becomes harder to ban you. So you might be a bit of a special case.
Not to mention that the amount of tools moderators get is just sad. We can't even turn the spamfilter on/off temporarily, or make a proper warning message that pops up when you try to message a subreddit, like when you PM an admin. Not to mention that the modmail is horribly slow, inefficiĂŤnt and ugly when messages are deleted.
It's very sad that this is happening, and what's even more sad is that only a tiny amount of users who are interested in meta-reddit will know or care.
> Reddit has become infested with the angry loser crowd. You would know, ass.
It wont, however you can ignore mayonesa and never see another post from him again. You can ignore the tags he uses and if he breaks the rules here you can report him to the site owner. mk actually gives a shit unlike some other website admins who shall remain nameless.
I'm glad you are here, I have enjoyed your posts and commentary for some time now. Even if you do "ignore" #thebeatles
I know. The first podcast that mk participated in I put a Beatles song in the background as he was introduced. It was completely unintentional but he quickly called me on it :) I still can't figure out how you can love XTC and loathe the Beatles, but he manages.
I know a couple of people who love XTC and loathe the Beatles, so it while it may be counterintuitive, maybe loving XTC makes a person less inclined to love the Beatles.
I dumped my Reddit account a few weeks ago. I'm sure I wasn't as prolific as many of you, but I had been on there a few years, made the front page with a self post, had several thousand comment karma and had almost 1000 link Karma. I just got sick of it, especially because -as another user here pointed out in his comment- one quick downvote a few seconds after a post could derail any conversation I started. What's more, it seemed like it was happening with increased regularity since Reddit hit the main stream. Sure, some of my posts were just stupid fun, but there were other posts that I really thought about and hoped to discuss. Frankly it made me angry that a 14 year old somewhere could slam the door on an adult discussion they couldn't take the time to understand. I still have a Reddit account, but since I quit I have never posted a single comment and I never will again. I also ensure that any upvote I give is balanced by a downvote. I especially downvote obvious troll reposts and stupid TILs about things any idiot should already know TIL water is wet!"
I spend an incredible amount of time derping in modmail, doing mod stuff, or just commenting in private social club subs myself.
Hey, nice to see you here! Don't tell anyone but that's actually the first thing I tried to do. Sigh. I guess I'm gonna have to adapt now D:
Cool story bro. I enjoyed your commentary but.... seriously? This is a little overly dramatic.
What particularly made you quit? Are you reading your "omg syncretic quit" threads?
I liked moderating when we had admin support. We no longer have admin support, so I really didn't feel like moderating anymore. My "syncretic" account was pretty much just for creating subreddits, submitting content to those subreddits, and moderating those subreddits. I felt a responsibility to those subreddits because I had created them or at the very least I was a senior mod. I'll still use reddit, I just don't care about it anymore, I'm not emotionally invested in it anymore, and I don't trust a single word that comes out of any admin's mouth. Several events in the last several months have made me realize that I am an unpaid volunteer for a corporation that really doesn't care about quality over quantity. They want pageviews, they want internet power. Look what they did when SOPA and PIPA threaten their existence. Shut down the entire website in protest and start the ball rolling for dozens of other sites to do so as well. What do they do when Gawker publicly outs one of the most prolific moderators and community builders on the site? They banned the article site-wide for doxing (as they should have), then unbanned a few hours later, then they said absolutely nothing for several days while the mods scrambled to figure out what to do (do we remove it, do we approve it, do we boycott Gawker Media?), and then instead of a public statement in /r/announcements (like, oh, I don't know, a condemnation of Gawker), they make some stupid post in the mod back room about how this is a "complicated issue" etc etc. What would they have done if some Mens Rights blog outed the identity of someone from the LGBT community? Oh wait, that happened, and they manually went into the subreddit to remove the post, against the wishes of a moderator. Yes, that was the right thing to do, but it just shows you how they enforce the rules however they please, and only when they aren't going to get bad press as a result. Fuck them. Hmm.... <goes to investigate>What particularly made you quit?
Are you reading your "omg syncretic quit" threads?
Were you friends with VA? I think it is pretty hard for an average person to understand "jailbait" and his other less distasteful subreddits, so dropping him rather then supporting him was pretty much the best option they had. i don't know much aside from that he modded /r/wtf and NSFW subreddits, as well as glomming onto creepshots when it became controversial. I also asked him a few questions after jailbait was banned and he said he removed content that could be considered pornographic (the lose defininition where even if they are clothed but in a pornographic pose), but then I saw him defending the 14 year old girls ass because "he couldn't see her date of birth tattoeed on her ass". I've being doxxed and every time I mention people blame me for it being doable. When does personal responsibilty come into it?
I wouldn't call him a friend, you could even say we disliked each other, we certainly clashed enough as moderators and there was a large amount of drama when I banned him from /r/TheoryOfReddit. However, I respected him as a moderator and I certainly didn't think he deserved to have his life ruined like that over his online activities.
He was very helpful in the mod community, he was a moderator of /r/modhelp I believe, and he also created a new moderator guide that was very educational. He personally inspired me to become a moderator. Even though I wasn't really into the NSFW side of reddit (although I once created a few successful ones just to see if I could), studying his posting history showed me that it really wasn't that hard to just dive into creating new subreddits. All you had to do was seed them with content and start talking about them & linking to them in other subreddits. Were you friends with VA?
I believe I'm going to do the same. Anything I used to enjoy over there has been overpowered by the typical "hivemind" mentality.
I'm just glad that TheRedditPope isn't here. Am I right?
True or false: you really just did this to escape SRDB modmail? Kidding, kidding. See you around. <3
It just needs some filters. Thou should have tried to stay on the less popular sub-reddits (ie. r/portal).
Can I get a rundown. I hate drama as it happens but the summation at the end is always entertaining. Anndddd...I'm good. Thanks subredditdrama recap posts. I have now had my fill of internet drama for the next couple weeks. Jeez. I knew that the mod/admin/powerusers/users relationship was getting crazy but it'd really deteriorated. Also, porn subreddits are gone. I give it less than 6 months before reddit is sold.
