I was thinking that law enforcement would love this new technology. Especially since, Apps will probably "hamfistedly" force you to activate Wi-Fi Aware or give it access if you want to use the App - which we'll probably have limited control over what information is shared across the Wi-Fi Aware network. I think that the best application for this would be meshnetworks like Fire Chat, or even as a replacement for the cell network in the case it goes down where a Wi-Fi Aware phone could be connected at the edge and pass data through the whole network.
Yea, this is a huge amount of risk. Especially when the WSJ op-ed is calling to drop the Mac line up. Which is a pretty terrible idea as they are already converging and will likely continue to converge over the next few years: http://bgr.com/2015/07/12/apple-mac-sales-innovation/ If a group of stock holders force the issue and Mac is either spun off or deprecated there's HUGE risk to Apple.
I was thinking about this in regard to the US. We'd probably want to compare it at the state level. So i'd be more appropriate to compare a state like Virginia to Denmark than the entire US. Especially since it has coast line that could generate a great deal of that energy.
I liked the overall idea, i do feel that calling it sexist is over the top. it's the fact that the people developing the Oculus rift are men, developing the technology in a way that's usable for them. So I guess you could say that there are some inherent biological biases in that. That's not sexism, or at least not intentional sexism. It's unintentionally exclusionary, so that's a problem. The obvious solution would be to develop something for women that has been developed for the color blind- different coloration/settings to enable playability for a broader audience. This of course can only happen if the company effectively listens to their customers or include females on the UAT for any of these products. Essentially it's going to require two different graphical displays depending on sex, men will never be able to program that correctly, because they can't test it effectively, which you could argue is also sexist, using her language, it's a limitation. Now that Oculus Rift has a ton more money, they need to hire women to enable women to play games. They'll need to develop a way to create a filter similar to what they have done for men, but for women. It's going to create a lot more work for all developers, but it's the right thing to do.
