I agree with much of what you have to say, but bringing a time-competitive competitor to air travel will place pressure on both industries (hyperloop and airlines) for bot cost and convenience. We put up with the non-sense at the airport because it really is the only option for fast travel anywhere on Earth. If there was a choice for some routes we may see both innovate in ways that are beneficial to the consumer.
Yeah I definitely think that is part of it, but also the iPhone solved a problem so perfectly that you could tell it was the way to go. You're right though, I don't think it'll take 20 years (or even 10) for the next big thing to change the world.
One of my favorites is the contrast ratio game. We went from 1,000:1 to 1,000,000:1 overnight... Oh it's dynamic... My TV does it and it's ok most of the time but it sure as heck isn't 1,000x the contrast as my computer monitor.
It does look neat, but can the market support this? I guess if it gets to the point where phones become like PCs and you can easily install whatever OS you'd like it could fill a niche.
But only for a short period of time, anytime you get over ~10k subs or so it just degrades into what we don't like about Reddit.
mk was right on this, following tags would only result in another reddit, I'd say give this a try for a bit longer.
I see that all as gradual changes, even the Internet took a couple years to really take hold. The day we saw the iPhone it instantly made all UI obsolete. I'm not even a big fan of Apple, but I just find how extreme and fast it changed everything to be really amazing.
It's awkward at first, but you get used to it and it feels like a normal mouse. I don't have any problems with it at all.
Yeah, if it causes you no problems, don't bother. It's not for everyone. If you would find it fun to learn, then go for it, but I have actually never actually told anyone I know to go through with it. It's a pain in the butt.
It's funny to see how revolutionary some things have been, the iPhone really was a huge change that no one really saw coming. Will we see something like that again in our lives?
Yeah, if you really need to be able to type fast you are not going to be happy with changing layouts. Imagine you had to learn how to type all over again, that's what it feels like. If you can live with that, you may find it's worth it, your fingers will become way less stressed. I used to have real pain from my job with computers, but with the setup I described it no longer causes me any issues at all. It really has been a good change.
Tough to say, but it seems like laying low seems to be the best strategy. Perhaps giving a sincere apology and then being silent.
About comparable now, but it probably takes 2 months to get up to speed, some people become even faster after getting used to it, but I don't think that's the case for me. It probably takes about a week or so before it feels completely "normal" though, so you can expect some annoyance at that.
