It's making the site incredibly boring. I see the same topics every time I visit. I try using chatter or global, but there are few to no comments there at all. I feel like this site is more a bunch of people linking things to get people watching them than it is people actually interested in discussion. I liked reddit for the community, and thought hubski was about encouraging that aspect, but that isn't turning out to be true so far.
Anyone else feel the same?
Those may be holdovers from when you first made your account. Are they the "Welcome to Hubski" type posts? There are some threads that show up automatically on all new accounts, and you may not have had enough threads from what you follow to have gotten rid of them.
Disclaimer: I'm new here. What do I know. I've been missing a particular user who stopped talking a couple weeks ago. She (I think) requested a feature to make bad comments less visible, people didn't like it, and they piled on. These are people who probably pat themselves on the back for being the heart of the site. The user they shouted down didn't rage-quit. She just stopped talking, and it's a shame. Then I saw a similar group of users shout down two other good users who dared suggest that people who send death threats on the Internet may give up the expectation of anonymity. One of the people who was piled on rage-quit, and another has stopped talking. But I'm not really interested in joining Hubski's chit-chat club. If I want to nurture friendships, I want those people to be able to pick me up at my local airport. I am here to look at interesting content. I do read the comments, and I think Hubski's moderation is original enough that it may turn out to be what I need to read Internet comments without despairing for humankind. It's a shame that some commenters here would rather get really aggressive over minute disagreements than just hush someone and move on.

-I'm curious if you have a link? Not because I don't believe you, but more because I'm afraid I may have missed a feature suggestion. TIA.
Literally, I feel like I can't even come close to keeping up. I feel like an asshole because people I care about are constantly posting cool stuff and there's no way I could get to all of it. I follow a LOT of people though. The content is here. Also, there is nothing wrong with reading older posts. If you share or comment on an older post, it will magically bring it back to life. There's no expiration date on good content. Keep that in mind. Cheers!
Don't wait for other people to comment. If you have an idea, or thought that you believe warrants discussion post it. It is like the bystander effect in a way. You are waiting for someone to comment, and until then you don't comment. If other people are thinking that then BAM, no one comments.
I've noticed too but I can't complain. I'm a lurker really. I like sharing links but I don't really comment unless I'm confident I know the subject. People are busy man. My girl cuts hair and this is her worst time of the year. Kids back in school, it's still too damn hot, everybody's waiting for the seasons to change. Speaking for myself I go into a real funk this time of year. It'll get better. Be the change you want to see here.
Follow more things! 100% bias guaranteed. Seriously, though, maybe try insomniasexx's Hubski Newsletter There are a lot of good posts highlighted there.
Some of the people who came in the last two Reddit influxes have wandered off, so activity has died down a bit. That said, if you want to see more, contribute more. Post. Comment. Engage other users. The best way to get people to talk about the things you want to talk about is to just start talking.
