So what was the point? I mean, somebody paid these people a ton of money. What were they buying with that money?

As I observed the crowd around me and watched their responses to the rhetoric, I would say most of them were buying "hope". Everytime something like, "this nation can once again be great", was said they all erupted. As for why my team decided to go, I think it was for 3 presenters in particular -Bill Cosby, Colin Powell and Steve Forbes. Of those 3 the only one I saw was Forbes. As I mentioned I left early. Turns out those that stayed after lunch waited outside for am hour and a half before being let know that the fire Marshall wouldn't let them back in due to it being over sold. It was all about money, it was predatory. Disenfranchised out of work people are easy targets. -it made me sad. Lou Holtz was awesome though. He came across as the only person there that was truly trying to help others get "motivated".

Wow that's depressing. I didnt realize people had to pay them money. I thought some organization sponsored it. Those people would probably get a statistically better outcome buying scratch tickets, both in happiness and future ROI...

Yeah, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Though, again I can't say enough about Lou Holtz. I'm not a huge football fan but it was easy for me to see how he was able to get the best out of his players. I would have preferred a scratch ticket.
