I'm still in love with Sail but between having it on my Spotify starred and the radio here recently adding it to their main list, I've over listened. Then I was watching some redbull video and discovered the dubstep-y version. Pretty sick.
I can get pretty hipster on AWOL. A couple years ago I was at Stubbs Austin for three-dollar Thursdays or whatever the hell the equivalent is, trying to see White Denim or Bright Light or someone, and AWOL was on the bill opening. Had never heard of them but after they played their EP I didn't even stay for the second group, I was so blown away. Motherfucker live is something else.
I just got into AWOL this week and ended up purchasing their album. Sail drew me in, but the rest of the album is pretty great too. That's actually what I was going to post this week, but it's already here so no need! :)
I can imagine. I saw Battles live in Sydney and I have never seen them before and I was completely blown away. The sound is pretty shit on this video but I was at this show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvjlW666MTk Here's the non-live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU The bass live was just penetrating. I was so into it. When I got home and listened to it on Spotify I was disappointed. Live is indeed something else.
