We've almost exhausted our supply of Hubski stickers, and we have decided to order some more, and send them to anyone who wants them.
We'd like to make these look different from the last batch, and thought you'all might have some ideas that were better than ours. There are two constraints however: they should be square (we are thinking 3"x 3"), and they can only use one color of ink (otherwise it gets pricey fast).
Thanks!
If we choose your design, we'll send you some stickers for free. Just like we will for anyone else who wants them. :)
BTW, those are gordonz88's stickers.
I am no graphic designer, which will be apparent, but here is my suggestion. It could be any colour background. A few notes. 1 I have no idea what the font should be. 2. I have no idea if hubski even has a strapline but I saw something similar on the about us page. 3. Should anyone want it I can send the .xcf file.
That's what I'm talking about! Some completely new design… I like the thinking behind this. Thank you!
Graphic designer here. Fwiw, the proportions (at least looking at it in a photo rather than first hand) the proportions are different than your actual icons on the site... In relation to each other the center circle is bigger and the orbiting circles are smaller here, than they are on the sticker. The placement of the name hubski may feel off to people because it is not in the power position. Ie: western writing systems that is the lower right hand corner... I have not been here long, but it seems you might go with the paper choice of the gray background as it is on the site, if that is an option, and print the blue circles on that... As well as there is more bright white in the current sticker, comparatively, to what is seen on the site itself, unless on other devices hubski doesn't have the gray background. And choose an ink closer to the blue of the badge, if not the exact color. At first glance to the unfamiliar, the current sticker could resemble a Domino's pizza logo. No disrespect intended, but we're taught to watch how others' could read or misread any symbol or logo, and you always want to be distinct from any others that could be confused with your mark... And for old people like me, dial phones and Ma Bell blue come to mind, and there may be other associations as well..Not that young people would get that reference, but your ideal would be immediate recognition, vs taking several seconds or more to figure it out... So more reason to get it in the exact proportions, which are unique. You might play with placement of the badge in the square and look at the composition of the elements together. Here, there's very elegant placement and relationship to each other of icons and text, their varied weights and such, that is currently not showing on the stickers. You might also consider doing an almost, but not fully filled badge...
My photo was used in a post! I was credited! I feel so.. so.. accomplished! In all seriousness though, I love the minimalism. As said before the only thing I'd change is maybe make the text less intrusive, or get rid of it? The only thing that really could be changed without staying true to the art style of the logo is the color scheme, but even then I like the blue. Maybe update the color of some of the dots to reflect upon the two colored dots in the logo.
...50 Shades of Hubski? A grey text would be good. Maybe a checkered pattern where you can still see the hubwheel (change the color from white to whatever color to suit that). I'm no graphic designer.
I'm partial to Black and Orange. Black background, orange hubski. My high school was adjacent to the old Memorial Ballpark that housed the Orioles in Baltimore for many years, so we took their colors. And so whenever I come down to two solid colors, its black and orange for me. And I'd also love to get some! Let me know what you need from me.
