Architect - Mine. Architect with vocals took me by surprise.
And three bands coming back from the dead. There's a lot of that going around this year.
Jesu - Every Day I Get Closer to the Light From Which I Came. Godflesh is touring again and there's a new Jesu album!
Cat Rapes Dog - Life Was Sweet. I mentioned another track in a previous weeklymusicthread, but the album is out now so here they are again.
Kevorkian Death Cycle - God Am I. A+0[m], their last album, was one of the last albums I bought a physical copy of, and it together with Haujobb's Ninetynine were what 1999 sounded like for me. This is definitely the same band, though there's a lot of HexRx in there too. Psst, Meriadoc
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wannna Know That whole album is pretty good.
I just saw them last week at a small club called The Paradise in Boston. Unbelievable show! Loving the new album as well......
Yeah, it's the radio hit on AM which was released...I don't know. A week ago maybe? I hadn't been inspired to listen to the album at all until this one started getting radio play. So I've been listening to the rest of the album now. It's pretty good. Also, for nostalgias sake, Bet you look good on the dancefloor Hahah yes that's me. Was that creepy?
Touché Amoré - Non Fiction This whole album is fantastic, may end up being my favorite from this year. It officially drops Tuesday!
Arcade Fire - Reflektor. New one from AF. The Bowie cameo makes it great. Vampire Weekend - Step. I still need to pick up the entire new album but I really like this one. Ryan Hemsworth - Perfectly. Pop song of the week.
I got to see Vampire Weekend last night at FreeFest. They really know how to entertain a crowd.
Nice. I saw them a couple months ago here in the Twin Cities. Was a pretty good show.
Great band. They're building a nice body of work and are still really young. It's a band I'll continue to follow. Modern Vampires is one of my favorite albums this year, for sure. How are they live?
They were really good live. They had a great stage presence. They were friendly and had conversations with the audience in between sets. I would highly recomend seeing them if you get the chance.
That's good to hear, it's always a shame when you really enjoy a band only to find out they're horrible live. I saw the Smashing Pumpkins a couple of times in the 90's and they were pretty bad live. Bummer.
I had a big Disturbed phase back in high school. They were terrible live. It kinda put me off from the whole experience.
For context, it's my fiancee's favorite band and she's in love with the lead singer. I, enjoy their music, but am not a huge fan. I thought the show was just okay. They had great sound, played super tight, were playful, and nailed the set list. But they didn't talk a lot, and played the set list just straight up like they do it every night. Again, great sound, great show, but nothing special. It also could have been because it was in a seated theater venue, like a big classic theater here in town. So, there wasn't really a "floor", and it was just kind of people standing in their rows, which kind of killed it for both of us. We see a lot of concerts and always get floor, because it's just what we enjoy. This show didn't really have a floor and they have some pretty fun dancy music. Just really wasn't a good venue for them. Probably not their fault. My fiancee felt the same way about everything, and it's her favorite band. Fun show, think it was just a shitty venue and lack of energy as a result.
If you like that group, try giving the Vitamin String Quartet a listen. They do kind of the same thing, they literally have well over a hundred albums. All they do is cover popular songs and albums, and it's awesome if you like string sections.
Make Me a Bird by Elektrik People has been on repeat for the past few weeks. Ghost Towns by Radical Face is another one I've been enjoying lately. Das Me by Brooke CandyI think that one explains itself. Edit: I'm not exactly sure how to link things here... Double Edit: Thank you bfv

Ok that makes sense. Thank you for your help.
Really like Welcome Home by Radical Face. Ghost towns is good too. I have been turned off by some of their other music on their "Ghost" album.
Still loving Alt-J. Just saw them perform a great show in Central Park. Their opener was interesting though. Lord Huron. Here is one of my favorites from them: The Man Who Lives Forever Also loving the new Kings Of Leon: Supersoaker Finally got into some older Cold War Kids: I've Seen Enough Let me know what you guys like.
The new Arctic Monkeys album (just amazing from start to finish. I find the last song "Wanna be yours" absolutely beautiful - fond memories of slow dancing with the other half around the house) I've also been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd recently. The Division Bell for me is absolutely fantastic. I definitely recommend listening to "Wearing the Inside out" and "High Hopes". I really, really want to post the lyrics to high hopes but I feel this would be a plastic way to experience this song so have a listen and let me know what you think.
Chvrches _just_ released their first album in the UK, and I'm a big fan of their tracks because they're precisely what I'd like to hear on a night out. Bright Eyes - Lua "But what was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane" - This line is what anguish means to me, that you could hurl yourself off a cliff convinced of your choices and change your mind before you hit the bottom.
Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin has a new album called Fly By Wire, which I have listened to a ton lately. It's great, they are among the kings of Indie Pop. More importantly, King Khan & the Shrines new album has completely blown me away. It has so much 60s/70s rock influence with a soulful infusion. It's one of my favorites of this year. Check out the song Thorn in Her Pride in particular.
How does it compare to Let It Sway? I really liked the album but it's the only SSLY, BY album I find myself coming back to. Just wondering if the new album is worth investing some listens in.
You might not want to trust my opinion on this then...I prefer Broom and Pershing to Let It Sway, and would put this album on par with Let It Sway. Young Presidents is a great song.
I just discovered Unknown Mortal Orchestra a few weeks ago. I can't stop listening to it.
Hooooo I need to listen to that KDC album. I remember when you posted that song how blown away that it was happening was. I hope I can still order one of the limited records as well; they only printed 250 and I failed to place the order then, so we'll see.
Antwon - Fantasy Beds Mixtape seeing this fool 9/28
I've been working on the next #tngpodcast and part of the process I enjoy the most is picking out the music to help serve the topic/moment. I listened to Paul Simon's "Rewrite" a number of times and am so glad I did. Great song. Also featured in the podcast is the Shins song Those to Come -what a beautiful tune.
Rewrites great, I actualy brought that CD to your house when you said bring your favorite "record " to spin. When I found out you really meant a record I didn't get it out. That Cd is a great one to put on at gatherings. It feels uplifting and is as good to listen to and focus on as it is as background music.
Wow, that's pretty crazy that you had brought that. Great minds think alike, right? Any other suggestions? Did you listen to any good music this week?
The reason I've been sharing without contributing the last few weeks is I have literally not had time to put into new music exploration, with a few exceptions (like Elvis Costello and the Roots! Hot damn!). I've been listening to a ton of Cat Stevens this week. Nothing groundbreaking, I know. Sorry. I'll get back in the game soon.
