I think a successful example of product placement is on the show Chuck. The show was basically saved in its third season by picking up Subway as an integral advertising partner. Regardless of your opinion of the show, it proves to be an interesting experiment in product placement.

This reminds me (for no apparent reason) of the SOB campaign in "Arrested Development". If you aren't familiar with it, SOB stood for "Save Our Bluths". It was a hilarious episode that went through all the familiar ploys of TV shows in danger of being canceled; cameos, overt adverts and pleas for the audience to "tell their friends". Great show, wish Subway had bailed them out.

Pom Wonderful presents...
This looks very cool. Have you seen it?
I am a bit torn. I can see it being a good way for someone with limited resources to make a film. But I guess it also depends on the kind of film you are making. If it's an action flick, a date comedy, or the next 007, I could care less. But if it is a film with a message, one that explores the human condition, then yeah, it's stupid.

David Lynch is a really great artist. I always enjoy his work, some of it is more laborious than others but I at least respect his efforts. I watched Twin Peaks for the first time about 6 years ago with some friends. We would drink coffee and eat cherry pie while watching and occasionally sneak outside for a smoke. It was a great time in my life. I miss those days.
