jonaswildman, T-Dog, fuffle, ecib and bgood79:
Here is the latest version of our second song with some added mellotron and synth by mrjasonetaylor. It's downloadable.
T-Dog said he would have time to work on some stuff tomorrow. Anyone want to work on this tonight? If not, then T-Dog is up next Saturday.
I'm excited about where this one goes, it's less straight forward than the last.
This song as well as the previous one will be worked on by the musicians tagged. BUT -- nothing would be cooler than to have several of these types of collaborations going on at once. Start one up!
Nice! Feel free to work on either of the two we've begun working on. I'll try and get some more up and going too. That said, if fuffle, T-Dog, jonaswildman or mrjasonetaylor have something they'd like us all to work on, that'd be cool too. I don't have to be the one to start these.
How do we go about this then?
Also what instrument(s) do you play? I play bass and have roommates that could record piano, guitar, flute, banjo and drums if we so pleased.
That works. I like the idea of doing one track at a time and leaving it open to whomever to write the next track. Or should we have it within a set group of people?
BLOB_CASTLE asked a similar question here. There are so many bad-ass musicians on Hubski that I think it would get too cumbersome to have it open to all, so to be fair I'm going to stick with the original lineup. But you guys should start another one!
https://soundcloud.com/doctorwatts/sets/hubski-collaboration... All right so i hope this is okay - let me know if anyone wants me to redo it. i ended up doing a quick reverb heavy electric guitar track also. I wasnt sure how i felt about it (its really quiet anyway) so i uploaded it separately. if you want to use it its there, and if just bass is better that's cool too.
Any chance you'd be interested in exploring electronic sounds? edit: T-Dog, can you make this version downloadable? https://soundcloud.com/doctorwatts/hubski-song-2-5-guitar
its downloadable now, sorry about that. this is just my trusty ol' p bass. I could definitely try messing around with some electronic sounds if no one else was itching to do that. i'm sure a lot of cool stuff in that department could be done with this song.
jonaswildman said he would give this one a go. mrjasonetaylor, feel free to add more to this too. I'll try and work on it prior to leaving for DC for the meetup. Would be cool to play it for those that are there.
Cool, as soon as jonaswildman is finished I'll grab it and work on it some more. edit: how do you tag people on here?
@ name @ -like that, but actually touching the name. jonas is going to pass on this one, he took a stab at some drums but wasn't hearing it. Go for it, add whatever you'd like.
I like the bass, what kind of bass did you use? As for the electric guitar, it's so quiet and subtle that I say keep it. It can only add character and it in no way detracts from the tune. The bass builds in all the spots I'd want it to, nice work. I think this song should be heavier in the strumming parts than is immediately obvious and the bass steers us in that direction. Good work! Can you upload just the second version?
This is gorgeous! I wonder what lyrics you are secretly hiding in your imagination. In addition to being a song with tng lyrics, it also reminds me of soundtrack music: you know, the music they play in the background while we watch the relationship grow on screen as the couple gradually realizes the depth of their feeling... or while we watch the elves make shoes... or the beginning of the road trip through the prairies, before they run out of gas... or... or... gorgeous
I actually have no secret lyrics at this point and was hoping that one of the other musicians in on the project might step up with some lyrics/vox melodies. But if push comes to shove I may be able to muster some deeply hidden secret tng lyrics. I'm glad you dig it so far, I think this has a lot of room for growth/change as the others add their respective parts. This has been such a fun experience thus far. Did you hear the first one?
