I wish everyone in these threads would write a bit about their music instead of just linking it. I'm way more likely to listen to a link if it's surrounded by exposition for some reason. Anyway, I listened to the 2013 Fat Freddy's Drop album Blackbird -- thanks briandmyers, I'm 90 percent sure you showed me these guys. It wasn't as good as their previous work but still entertaining. I spent the rest of the week with LL Cool J, Dre, Snoop, Rakim and others. That was a hell of a time for rap.
I tried writing something about music I linked for a while, but it feels silly describing music you can hear yourself by clicking the link. Describing a thing seems redundant when you can just point at it. I'm baffled by music reviews still existing now that you don't have to drive to the record store or blindly mail order music for the same reason.
I mentioned this song three weeks ago in this thread and I think I've listened to it 30 times since. I've always loved the tune but lately I'm overcome with how awesome the tone on the guitar is and the sound of the drums. So great. Bowie is the shit. I set up my new studio last night at my new home. Here is the view from the outside: Here it is inside during the day: and at night: I set up an old record player out there and listened to Led Zeppelin 2 to inaugurate the place and had some Bulleit Rye. It was fun. I had an hour and recorded this steaming pile of poo of a song -I like the growling sound in the background. The rest is absolute shit. But hey, it was fun to do.
tng, please give us another title besides "streaming pile of poo" - You're not doing the song justice. The first stanza is deeply creepy. I wanted to scream, "Get your hands out of your pocket" -- Luckily the water under the bridge looks too shallow for anything to happen when you jump off.
Do you make beats? I've been wanting to fins someone that makes beats. I'd be interested in a collaboration with someone on that level. mrjasonetaylor, you ever make electronic beats?
I have in the past and wouldn't mind getting back into doing it again.
You ought to create a beat and post it here as the seed of the next #hubskioriginalmusicclub track. ecib, bgood79, T-Dog, fuffle and jonaswildman -It's a new year, I've got a new studio and I'm looking forward to collaborating with you all some more in 2014. Check out this song that we all worked on, that's a pretty damn good tune. Let's churn out a few more. Feel free to get one started, any one of you.
Good luck finding a space. If you ever record any tunes and share them here, feel free to "shout out" to me, I'm always down for hearing music by Hubski users.
No, check out the first pic. That's it beyond my bridge. Kinda cool.
I have no idea. We are renting. Someone bought our home unexpectedly and we had about a month to find a new one. Bid on two we liked but lost them. Decided to rent as there is usually nothing good that can come from a desperate purchase.
Well you ended up in a cool spot, if only temporarily. Lots of trees. Ever thought about buying some land and building a house? Might not be practical where you are, but it's a fun thought exercise. Hope you made a killing on yours. (Although I'm kinda curious how your house can be bought 'unexpectedly' -- someone plant a for-sale sign in the yard while you were on vacation?)
Nuages - Django Reinhardt Someday My Prince Will Come - Bill Evans Trio [Strange Fruit - Billie Holiday(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4ZyuULy9zs)
I agree with flagamuffin. I usually like at least a little description here. It doesn't need to be a comprehensive opinion, just an adjective and the genre is worth something. So since I saw your post, here's the song that's closest to rap that I've listened to this week: Mapei - Don't Wait I absolutely adore Air's album Moon Safari, but only this week I realized that a different song of theirs is the theme to Lost in Translation: Air - Alone in Kyoto Quaint, really. Reminds me of the quieter parts of Hong Kong. Another one to round it off. Chill pop electronic music by Bondax - Giving it All
This week has been very Ukraine-oriented for me. I've been editing a video for the Ukrainian summer camp i'm involved in and reading up on the protests quite a bit. The song I put as the background to the video has been stuck in my head since: Воплi Вiдоплясова - Вiдпустка It's about vacation, nice to hear some happy thoughts. As a side note, this song went a bit viral a while ago (or did it? I just realized it only has about 450 000 views) about the protest. It's pretty cool, you can turn on english subtitles
I love this song, and this band. If you have a pair of headphones it turns their music into bliss. Hopefully going to see them on one of their two dates in Boston.
I'm learning to make music in a DAW and I've been trying to expand my music taste. I went back through a couple mixes by producers I've been listening to some of the artists they drop in their sets. It's mostly been chill house music. I've also been listening to Hiromi's Sonicbloom. It's Japanese prog rock. Everyone is pretty awesome at their instruments but god damn, the piano player is great.
Headphones - Pink and Brown. David Bazan side project. He's better known as Pedro the Lion. Headphones are a great band too. It's like indy-synth. And here's an excellent in-studio version too, along with another track at the beginning.
