It's been a little while since I've seen a post like this, so I thought I'd ask the question. I noticed that kleinbl00 had circle-dotted a comment within seconds of me posting and I wondered - did he just happen to land there too? or does he have a notification hack I don't know about? does he get email notifications? And after seeing rezzeJ's post in chat about injecting CSS to make things more readable... it all just got me thinking:
How do you use hubski?
How often do you visit?
Do you visit via computer? tablet? phone? smartTV? some other IoT device?
Do you use email notifications?
What theme do you use?
Do you use the PM functionality?
What about chat?
Do you use your feed, global, badges or chatter to browse content?
and probably more stuff I'm forgetting because of the way I use hubski. Tell me how YOU hubski...
I ignore a lot of this: I hope you're doing well :) My name is Max and I work at an online marketing agency. I'm interested in publishing articles on your site with a link to one of my clients, for a fee that we will pay you. I will provide you with a super-professional, long (700+ words) and unique article that will be interesting for your readers. If you are interested, please let me know what will be the price for an article placement. Looking forward to your reply :) Best Regards, Hello,
Daily, twice/thrice daily. Check it on my phone, make posts and comments of substance on my home PC because of how much it sucks to type length on a touch screen. Global then chatter then feed in that order. Email notifications for everything. Darkmode rezzeJ mode from now on.
I visit Hubski on both phone and laptop about as often as I visit reddit. So, quite a bit. Been enjoying reading through chat as another place to keep up. Generally, I’m here to lurk commentary/posts. Borked my followed/ers on the de-activate, but I make a point to seek out how others are doing within the comments regardless of that status anyways. Despite being moderately active for years, haven’t naturally hit the inflection point of chatting as much as I’d like around here... Used to use e-mail notifications for PM - but I’m on here enough I turned them off. Don’t use PM per the former sentence. Even if more talkative here, I enjoy the way forums (offline and online) can have multiple discussants pop in on a single topic. Feed and chatter are my primary ways to view Hubski... oddly, my global IS different from my feed. Dark mode is the only mode I know. The rest off you non-dark mode ‘skians must have wonderfully rough n’ tough retinas.
Log in ~ daily either mobile or laptop check chatter, and read the linked article if it seems interesting my favorite posts are the pubskis & the heres-a-cool-woodworking project ones don't post much so pm/email doesn't so much matter light theme 4 lyf
About twice a day. Phone. Email notification are hit or miss. Sometimes I get them other times, no. I go to /common (not sure if this is open to all or not?) I use darksi but it’s time for a change. I’ll likely go to snow after posting this I don’t PM much anymore. I mostly post songs I record and hope that some unlucky soul will listen. If I’m lucky they’ll circledot. If I’m super lucky they’ll comment. Even if it’s one comment for every four songs, it keeps me going. I’m grateful for that. Otherwise, these days I lurk. I read comments and posts and circledot. If I feel moved I comment. I am busier than ever and don’t have as much time to comment as I used to. About once a week I will do a post dump where I post several things I’m interested in. That’s about it. I still invite everyone I meet to join :) everyone follow hardtaco he’s one of the most interesting people I know.
Tech Chrome web browser On my work laptop Frequency Multiple times a day. Sometimes once an hour. Features Global and Chatter only. Never used chat, discord, etc. I get PMs only when someone wants to chastise me and have the last word before blocking me. Philosophy Go to Global to see what the new Big Ideas are. Go to Chatter to see what people are engaging with, and their thoughts. I often miss posts in Global, but see the comments in Chatter, that then lead me to the Global post. I only click the Hubwheel when I want to SHARE a user's comment. I never use it as a "upvote". I only badge the truly platinum-quality submissions. Failings I know there is more that I don't understand about Hubski than I do understand. Following individuals or tags and how that affects my experience, for example. No idea. Why the Tags field on posts never autocompletes any useful tags... so I use it for satirical commentary on my posts, mostly. I know the color of my hubwheel indicates... something. And I have a certain number of badges saved up. But I don't know how to discover either of those features true meanings/use. I post rarely. I comment often. Probably mostly a factor of me being an old white man on the internet, and mistakenly thinking my perspective is valuable. I never visit on Mobile or on my personal computer or during non-work hours. It's what I do to distract from work, or when I have downtime. Most importantly, I have deleted all social media from all of my devices. I now visit Hubski, a few highly curated Reddit subs, and watch YouTube videos and TikTok videos when I want to just passively consume content.
I'll go. I check it primarily from my laptop, occasionally from my phone. I check in almost every day, multiple times a day, and usually just have it open in a browser at all times. I use the dark theme. I usually only check my feed, although I have been known to dip my toe in global or chatter once in a while. I've never given hubski my email address, so any interactions via email are a complete mystery to me. I check chat as much or more than my feed. I have tagging anxiety because I know I should tag stuff... but often don't know what to tag it with. I write lil haikus of lustful desire as often as HR permits. I send PMs, but not very often. Usually to send some support that I feel is more private, or occasionally to make sure I haven't offended... or to seek clarity and understanding when I have.
I visit the site a couple of times a week, unless super busy, then I might miss a week. I always use my computer; usually during work when waiting for code to run. I get email notifications of replies, but usually don't see them for a week or more. I check the Global section to see what is new.
Well I log in a couple of times a week. Maybe more or less it depends. I pretty much use it to see what is being shared. I do find some of the articles shared interesting. I often visit through my laptop but sometimes I will use my ipad or phone. No, I don't use email notifications. I use the clean theme. I don't really use PMs here. I think I have might have gotten some PMs in the past and sent them out but it's been a while. I haven't use the chat in the long time. Maybe I should spend there though. I use my feed and global to browse content.
- Visit at least twice a day, but probably more (if i'm in the city - country house life is my tech free zone) - My laptop - Never any emails - Dark theme for life - Rarely I PM, almost never - Love the chat, i visit it every time i'm here now - Spend most of my time on feed, i'll check chatter occasionally to see if i'm missing something. Bookmarked /newcoms since mk mentionned it last week, might replace my chatter visit with that if it sticks.
